COACHING
Lámh Dhearg CLG is committed to providing each child with an opportunity to participate in our Gaelic Games and activities. Lámh Dhearg CLG shall take all practical steps to ensure player welfare during all stages of their development. The Club shall ensure that such objective is promoted through the following steps:

-
Each underage team shall start with all players registered in that specific age group before any child from any lower age group.
-
If a player from a lower age group is required to allow an upper age team to field or to provide numbers for the upper age group panel then the coach of the upper age team shall contact the lead coach or coaches, in the event that the child is a dual player, of the lower age team to seek consent to approach the parent of the lower age player so as to allow for the inclusion in the upper age team or panel.
-
The underage player must train with their own age panel. He/she may however also train in addition with a higher age panel subject to the consent of their parent or guardian. However it must be explained to the parent that there is no requirement to do so.
-
No detriment shall apply to an underage player who chooses to train with his/her own age panel only in respect of selection for or inclusion in a higher age team panel or team.
-
Coaches must consider player burnout, over play with associated injury risk, schoolwork and school games commitment, individual player circumstances and the underage player’s mental health when choosing to seek to play an underage player in a higher age team.
-
Coaches shall communicate effectively, courteously and professionally at all times with each other. Breach of such obligation shall be a breach of their coaching obligations.
-
Coaches shall in the first instance resolve any grievances in relation to the operation of the code informally between each other or where that is not possible or where it does not lead to resolution of the matter then the matter shall be referred to the Chair of the Coaching Committee for determination. The matter shall be delegated to a subcommittee to investigate and resolve/determine. The Children's Officer shall provide assistance at this stage and shall represent the interests of the underage player or players.
-
The determination of the Coaching Committee may be appealed to the Club Executive Committee within a period of 10 days whose decision shall be final.
